The story is about nine-year-old Danny, an African-American orphan, living in the backwoods of Georgia with his grandmother during the 1930’s. When, in 1935, his granny dies he heads north with just his knapsack, and one night comes upon a silver train and sneaks aboard. It turns out to be Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington’s private train! The film follows Danny’s experience living with the Duke over half a lifetime.
